Movies for Book Lovers

If there is one thing I love more than a good book, it’s a good movie about books (and/or writing). And of course, I also love a good list. Here are some of my favourite movies that either focus on books or books play an important role in a character’s story.

You’ve Got Mail (1998)

"When you read a book as a child it becomes part of your identity in a way no other reading in your life does."

Little Women (2019)

"Who would be interested in a story of domestic struggles and joys? ... It doesn't have any real importance" - Jo
"Writing them will make them important." - Amy

Pride & Prejudice (2005)

"I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book!"

The Book Thief (2013)

"You're stealing books? Why?"
"When life robs you, sometimes you have to rob it back."

Ever After (1998)

"Pick a favourite." - Henry

"I could no sooner choose a favorite star in the heavens" - Danielle

Whisper of the Heart (1995)

"Don’t expect perfection at first. You have to find the rough gems inside yourself, take the time, and polish them."

Finding Neverland (2004)

"All great writers begin with a good leather binding and a respectable title."

The Man Who Invented Christmas (2017)

"We must not disturb the poet when the divine frenzy is upon him."

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Pie Society (2018)

"That's what I love about reading: one tiny thing will interest you in a book, and that tiny thing will lead you to another book, and another bit there will lead you onto a third book"

Stuck in Love (2012)

"A writer is the sum of his experiences. Go get some."
